About Us
Tribal Design Forum is a community of multidisciplinary designers and creative professionals from various tribes of India. Tribal Design Forum is a platform to share ideas and learnings to explore the role design can play for the benefit of designers and tribal communities in India.
These essays form a continuing editorial inquiry into custodianship, authorship, and the ethical future of tribal knowledge in India. Written at the intersection of design, policy, economy and lived experience, they examine how knowledge is created, extracted, preserved, and valued – and who is left out of that equation. Together, they argue for a shift from symbolic inclusion to structural responsibility, and from heritage as display to knowledge as shared capital.
TDF sessions are weekly sessions to interact and learn from designers and multidisciplinary domain experts from India and around the world who have been actively working for the benefit of tribal and indigenous communities. These sessions also provide a platform for members of the Tribal Design Forum to share their work and experiences as professionals.
TribalFutures 2.0 is a month-long digital showcase held every August, curated by the Tribal Design Forum. It celebrates contemporary tribal imagination across design, craft, film, technology, and knowledge systems – reframing tribal identity as visionary, future-facing, and central to global creativity.
Featuring voices from diverse tribal communities in India and across the world, TribalFutures spotlights Indigenous creators shaping tomorrow on their own terms.
