Vishal Rathod is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in ‘Society and Culture’ at IIT Gandhinagar. He holds his first master’s and a Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF) in Marathi Literature. His broader research interests are: Nomadic and Denotified tribes (NT/DNT), Anthropology of Religion, Indian literature and Media, Culture and Society. He has presented academic papers at several academic conferences integrating literature with sociological and anthropological elements. His published works include 3 ISBN book chapters, 3 ISSN journal articles, some Marathi articles, and a Marathi short story. His other independent journalistic writings include a series of reportages on Delhi Farmers’ Protest, Maharashtra flood diary, and the dynamics of Gen Z (all in Marathi). Effectively applying his qualitative skills, he has visited and keenly observed communities in the tribal regions of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Gujarat. Belonging to the Banjara community, which is a Denotified Tribe, he appreciates the cultural nuances of tribal and nomadic communities.
