Tribal labour market in northeast India: Role of embedded and disembedded economic structures’
Thangsiandong Guite is a PhD research scholar at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali. His doctoral research focuses on understanding structural transformation and the formation of the labor market among the Mizo tribes in Mizoram. A key aspect of his research is examining the role of social structures and institutions in shaping the economic outcomes of tribal communities.
Prior to joining IISER Mohali, he completed his master’s degree at the Centre for Labour Studies and Social Protection (LSSP), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati Campus. His research interests broadly span development economics, labor economics, institutional economics, and tribal studies. He critically engages with key concepts such as labor, markets, institutions, regional development, and tribes.
