Koloma is a folk fusion band hailing from the hills of Tripura was formed in the year 2014. The folk music of Tripura combined with various genres inspires their music. They aspire to preserve their language ‘Kokborok’ which over the years is being spoken nominally, through their unique perspective of merging the old and the new. Their songs are sung to the tune of the natural beauty of Tripura, the influence of the changing seasons and tradition of the people of Tripura.
The voices behind the band are Rumio Debbarma (vocals, folk instruments, acoustic, guitar, flute), Shimul Debbarma (drums, percussions, backing vocals), and Bhaskar J Debbarma (lead guitar, folk instruments, backing vocals).
Mwrwi Mwrwi (2015) is their debut studio album followed by Kothoma (2018), Saichwng Saichwnf (2019) and Champmanliya(2020). Their latest composition Swrapsa essays the missed opportunity and deep heartache felt due to an unrequited love. The song aims to showcase the fresh outlook of Kolomas on emotions.
Koloma with its musical journey aspires to imbibe the traditional Tripuri folklores and music with the present generation. They are the musical bridge that adjoins the stories of the days gone by to stories of today and days to come.
