Dominica is part of the Chinese diaspora with roots in the Dai/Tibetian communities. Dominica is an experienced practitioner, organizer, and advocate in social justice, cultural preservation, and government space, utilizing humanitarian principles to foster understanding and change that is both subtle and profound.
She has been active in on-the-ground social justice issues at a young age- acting as a nutritionist to over 80,000 Liberian refugees in Ghana at the age of 20, working on countering human trafficking in Southeast Asia with the United States Agency in International Development, and developing models to preserve indigenous knowledge in Sri Lanka and Africa.
She is the Founding Director of Global Wisdom Collective (GWC), an organization focused on protecting traditional ecological knowledge and key cultural lifeways pertinent to and alongside indigenous and diaspora communities that would otherwise be at threat of extinction.
She follows her thousand years lineage of traditional healing from her bloodline. Dominica’s mother is one of the more original practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine in its intended and purest form, and Dominica was passed on the gift of this medicine at a very young age. She realized how sacred it was to have this knowledge passed on as most of these traditions are passed on orally and rarely documented.
In this talk, Dominica will speak more on her experience growing up with an indigenous healer mother who passed on her knowledge orally, and how her Western upbring contrasted with what she learned growing up. She will speak more on how this has strengthened her conviction and role she knew she had as being part of the diaspora to bridge this gap.
Dominica has experienced death and survived through a series of miracles in 2019. She lends her experience in surviving death to her work and passion to create a more whole and healthy Planet. Dominica is dedicated to protecting what is most ancient and timeless within our world and unifying these with all that we have gained in modern living and learning. This also includes shark conservation and animal welfare.
She holds an MBA in Global Sustainable Social Enterprise and degrees in nutritional sciences and social justice. She is also a Certified Health Coach and nutritionist.
