About Akshita M Bhanj Deo
Akshita M Bhanj Deo is a passionate storyteller and explorer being avid traveler, she studied and worked in 3 countries spanning India, Singapore and the United States. Having one foot in Asia and one in the global community aids her in being open to new ideas and working in cosmopolitan centers in the world, in addition to working with grassroots level rural communities.
Akshita and her sister are co-owners of their 200-year-old ancestral home The Belgadia Palace which they restored to become a boutique heritage hotel in 2019. She is also the Director of their family trust The Mayurbhanj Foundation which aims to reach 100,000 youth of Mayurbhanj in sports, arts & culture, conservation, education, and healthcare. In 2022 in lieu of their work in building sustainable tourism, they were awarded Travel and Leisures Community Champion Award.
Akshita is also a TedX speaker and Net Zero Fellow of the SPG School of Governance (Bangalore) and their joint program with the European Climate Fund, which brings a cohort of public policy youth leaders to understand over a 6 month period ways to mitigate climate change and how to build climate resilience. In 2023, TIME Magazine nominated her home The Belgadia Palace and the district Mayurbhanj as 100 Greatest Places in the World to visit in 2023.
