Researching Social Inequality
Mohd Arshid is currently pursuing research at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He belongs to the Gujjar Bakerwal tribal community in Jammu and Kashmir and was born in a village in the Poonch District of the region. His research interests include inter and intra-group social and religious inequality and the political economy of religion. Arshid has received several prestigious fellowships and awards, including the Junior Research Fellowship from UGC (2019-2021), the Senior Research Fellowship from UGC (2021-2024), and the Adivasi Awaz Fellowship from ALM (Sept. 2022-Oct. 2022). In addition to his academic work, he is also a columnist.
