Shreyasika Bhagat is a student pursuing a degree in Textile Design from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru. Her choice of textile design education can be traced to an interest in embroidery and embellishments on fabrics as a child.
As a student of Design, Shreyasika has grown fond of learning about Digital Print Design and its peculiarities differing from brand to brand and its demand in the market. Her most memorable assignment at design school until now is concerned with embellishments. To her design is an instrument for resolving problems, a plan to get the best results.
Considering the richness of indigenous communities, she feels that it can contribute to the design field extensively. The sustainable practices of indigenous people can be promoted through Design. She wishes to set up cottage industries in rural areas to bring out the economic upliftment of tribal areas. The alienation from her mother tongue has provoked her to envision a documentation project where she can document the tribal language. This documentation she feels might help the younger generation connect with their culture and further cherish it.
